Santa Clara, Cuba, Feb 24 (Prensa Latina) The Assistant Director of Mechanical Plant, Raquel Rivera, voted Sunday for the new Cuban Constitution, as part of more than half a million inhabitants of the central province of Villa Clara who will be voting at the polls.
Raquel revealed this Sunday to Prensa Latina that she voted yes for the new Carta Magna, as she considered it to be a patriotic act of great dignity. The Mechanical Production Company Fabric Aguilar Noriega, known in Cuba and internationally as a Mechanical Plant, was founded by Commander Ernesto Che Guevara in 1964 and for several years has had Raquel Rivera as its Assistant Director.

Rivera pointed out that a woman holding a management position in such an important industry is a clear proof of what we have achieved in this society.

She pointed out that this is referred to in Article 27 of the Economic Foundations of the Constitution, when it says that the socialist state enterprise has autonomy in its administration and management and plays the main role in the goods and services production and fulfills its social responsibilities.

A total of 15,549 electoral polling stations were opened in this central Cuban province at 07:00 local time, so that more than 600,000 people with the right to vote could vote.

The Electoral Commission authorities also announced the opening of four special polling stations located in the Arnaldo Milian Castro and Jose Luis Miranda hospitals in Santa Clara; the April 9th in Sagua la Grande and the one in the northeast Cayeria. The last one, aimed at construction workers who build sites in this tourist area.

More than 100 radio amateurs, from early hours, support the Constitutional Referendum from isolated and difficult access places, prepared for any eventuality with the purpose of facilitating the transmission of data to the municipal and provincial electoral commissions.

On the other hand, the Hanabanilla reservoir is already crossed by the boat that functions as an electoral station in that area of the national geography, the only one of its kind in Cuba, so that the voters who live on its shores can participate in the Constitutional Referendum.

So far, the process is proceeding satisfactorily, and in the next few hours the first reports will be issued on the voting practices in the province for the present and future of the Cuban nation.

The member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and First Secretary in Villa Clara Province, Julio Ramiro Lima, MP to the National Assembly (parliament) for the municipality of Sagua la Grande, voted in that city, in polling station No. 1 in electoral district 23, located in Combinado Deportivo Sagua.
